The SKM295GB066D is a Semikron SEMITRANS 2 IGBT module in a half-bridge configuration, rated 600 V and about 300 A in the compact 34 mm housing. It uses Semikron IGBT trench technology with a positive temperature coefficient, a high short-circuit capability that self-limits to about six times the nominal current, and fast-and-soft CAL inverse diodes. The SEMITRANS 2 package carries an insulated copper baseplate on a Direct Bonded Copper substrate, large clearance and creepage distances, and UL recognition, so it is straightforward to build into a low-voltage converter. At 600 V it suits lower-voltage applications such as a battery-source drive, a low-voltage UPS, an electronic welder, a solar micro-inverter or a DC-DC converter, where a 1200 V part would be unnecessarily large and costly. The half-bridge circuit forms a three-phase inverter or a synchronous buck or boost stage, and the module is normally driven by a matched Semikron gate driver.
